Review

I saw "The Empire Strikes Back" first when it came out in the Special Edition. I didn't expect to like it, so you can imagine my surprise. The entire film blew me away. I was amazed by the emotional impact. Princess Leia became a role model, Han Solo became an object of lust. I knew before seeing it, I wanted a career in movies, but this one helped me make up my mind for certain. I used to have over 10 different favorite movies, including West Side Story and Rebel Without A Cause, but I found that Empire left me breathless every time. In my opinion, The Empire Strikes Back is the best cinematic experience in history, and will remain the best.

Even better than the first one, this movie is fun! Better special effects and bigger adventures and to top it all: the mother of all soap opera plots!(And I bet EVERYONE knows what I'm talking about) Unlike the first movie, this one is not a stand-alone movie and it connects directly to the third (or should I say sixth?) and final part. You still get the feeling of a complete story and it's f-u-n. Lucas is a genius. Great characters, great worlds of wonder... Wow. Oh, and make sure you watch the special edition! Just buy the special edition trilogy. I agree I really enjoy the Empire Strikes Back. Out of all the 4 Star Wars films I think that it is the second best of the lot. what annoys me is how unanimously most reviewers automatically point out that Return of the Jedi is the worst of the series.

(Many even say that the childish film, TPM is better than ROTJ???!!huh???!!!!!!) To be quite frank, WHY? After reading surprising reviews from critics and fans alike I feel like it is necessary to point out why ROTJ is better than ESB:
  1. First of all, except for the "I am your father" it was not as emotional and sentimental as Return of the Jedi. Sure the "I am your father" statement was a surprise, but I get tears in my eyes when Luke reveals to his sister the truth about how they are siblings. But even that pales compared to the last 40 minutes of the movie which is an extremely dark confrontation between Luke/Darth Vader/Palpatine. Darth Vader's final redemption is just the most touching/meaningful scene out of all the Star Wars movies. And the "I am your father" statement just does not have as much sting as "Father... Father I will not leave you.." and then Anakin dies.. or even "You have failed your highness, I am a Jedi like my father before me."
  2. Has anyone ever thought how silly it was for Luke to learn how to become a near Jedi after one afternoon and nearly defeat Vader? Come on, he did not even know how to handle a lightsaber before he met Yoda.. All of a sudden he is doing all those impressive flips and swashbuckling moves? Give me a break. Or how about knowing how to use the force to get to Bespin? How? A Jedi that can barely use the force to lift pebbles. Hello?
  3. This movie was slower paced. I must agree that some of the sequences in the asteroid belt seemed to drag at times. Jedi, (the longest of the three) on the other hand gripped you for all its 133 minutes.
  4. Where is the big space battle? I like to see spaceships getting blown up... Is this "Star Wars" or "Star Trek"? On the other hand, the Space Battle in ROTJ is widely considered The Greatest Space Battle Ever Filmed.
  5. The Battle of Endor was great because it was ironic and unexpected. Everyone says how much they hate the Ewoks but the charming thing about this battle was that the Imperials were supposed to win since Palpatine had foreseen it. I was in turmoil after the line--"Your friends over there on the Endor moon are walking into a trap.. It (the shield generator) is quite safe from your pitiful band...An entire legion of my best troops await them.. Oh! I think that the shield generator will be quite operational when your friends arrive.." After this I thought how could the rebels possibly win when the Empire had the upper hand. When the Ewoks came and surprised everyone I was breathtaken! I always get emotional when I see the underdogs take on a much more powerful foe!
Empire Strikes Back is a great movie in its own right But.. Special kudos goes to the greatest film in cinematic history-- Episode 6:Return of the Jedi. When I first saw this movie as youngster, I thought it was good, but i was into the Action Packed Star Wars and Return of the Jedi better, but now i have a different outlook of it. Now it my fav of the series and probably of all movies. It has deep meaning to it. The scenes with the all-knowing Yoda and Luke. There also were some good action sequences on Hoth, the Icy planet. But the duel between Vader and Skywalker is one of the best sword fights EVER! If there is anyone out there who is reading this and hasn't seen this movie or Starwars, then see them all NOW. As a matter of fact, u can probably bye them for a cheap price as a set at your local Best Buy or where ever.

The Empire Strikes Back is just a notch down from A New Hope, but still an excellent film in the trilogy. After the Death Star was destroyed, the Rebellion was chased from their secret base and relocated to a bunch of different planets over three years, until they're finally settled down on the ice planet of Hoth. Darth Vader, obsessed with finding Luke Skywalker has sent probe droids across the galaxy in order to find him and his friends. This film is very action packed, ranging from the AT-AT battle to the chase in the asteroid field. The acting is quite better than the first go around, especially from Mark Hamill, and the love scenes between Han and Leia are excellent. Darth Vader is at his most evil in this film, choking people to death who fail him. His lightsaber duel with Luke at the end is ten times better than between him and Obi Wan in the original and the point where Darth tells Luke who he REALLY is is shocking, even when you know what happens. To sum it up: The Rebellion is defeated, Luke abandons his training, Han is captured and taken to Jabba The Hutt and Luke gains a daddy and loses a hand. Excellent film in the series.

Review

This is the movie that should have been done first off. The way it turned out, while watching, you know what is going to happen, having seen the story-line in the original UNDERWORLD. And that's a shame, because I can quite imagine how I would have freaked out normally at the sight of Sonja getting burnt to a crisp, the queen or the modern martyrs of female movie characters. As you can guess, I am a Rhona Mitri fan, especially because of PARTY OF FIVE, even if her character was grossly underdeveloped there, and NIP/TUCK to a lesser extent, because there her character regressed into a shambles. So, despite not really having seen her in anything worthy of her, I am a Rhona Mitra fan (and no, I haven't seen her in FHM magazines either) you know why? It's the age-old RavenGlamDVDCollector thing... that foxy face! She is just beautiful.

I normally avoid the kind of slasher movie where girls get killed for the heck of it left, right, front and center, and it was a total bummer to have the lead lady killed off about 80% through the movie, but this film is just marvelously done in a most astounding way, including the death scene. It is just absolutely breathtaking. It cements Sonja as an unforgettable character.

Actually, Sonja's more to my liking than that cold-as-ice deathly Selene. I'm not saying anything at all against Kate Beckinsale, no way, Selene is a scripted character and she is scripted that way to be played that way. But to those of you criticizing Rhona's Sonja as light- weight compared to Kate's Selene, I do not agree. I think everybody will concur that two superb stars were chosen for the two female leads.

(Apologies to you seriously-into-gore and CGI mayhem dudes, I'm just a Rhona Mitra fanboy!)

P.S. I should also mention that Michael Sheen and Ben Nighy outdid themselves. That is some compliment from a guy who is obsessed only with actresses. Take it as a feather in your caps, guys.

Whew, after the trilogy set, gee, had my fill of wolfy violence! And dark blue screens! :)
Kate Beckinsale was quite clearly the best thing the Underworld franchise had going for it. Making an Underworld movie without her was either very bold or very stupid. Happily, with Rise of the Lycans, that decision proved to be more bold than stupid. Yes, Beckinsale is missed. No, this movie is not as much fun as the first installment in the series. But there are enough good things here to make this movie a worthy addition to the saga. It may fall short of the original but it is at least on par with, probably even a touch better than, Evolution. And Evolution had Beckinsale in it so that's saying something!

Beckinsale is not here because this is a prequel, her character of Selene has yet to enter the story. This movie takes us back to the origin of the Lycans, the werewolves who retain the ability to transform back into human form. Lucian, who we know so well from movie number one, is the first Lycan. And that's good news because that means Michael Sheen is back. In the first film, told from a vampire's point of view, Lucian was the bad guy. Here we see things through Lycan eyes, Lucian is the hero. And Sheen gives a very powerful performance, he is indeed an inspiring hero. But if we are meant to sympathize with the Lycans in this movie, and we clearly are, who's the bad guy? Welcome back vampire elder Viktor, played as in the first film by Bill Nighy. Viktor, as any fan of the saga knows, is quite a nasty piece of work. And Nighy plays the part with gleeful relish. This is one of the hammiest performances you'll ever see, laughably over-the-top. But for this kind of film it actually kind of works. We're talking about vampires and werewolves here, let's not take things too seriously.

Sheen and Nighy draw most of the attention. The other key role goes to Rhona Mitra. She plays Viktor's daughter, Sonja, who is of course in a forbidden romance with Lucian. We know how that story will play itself out but it's interesting seeing the journey to that story's end. Mitra gives a solid performance, though certainly not as memorable as Sheen or Nighy. She's obviously meant to be this movie's Beckinsale and while not as great as Kate she holds her own. Even if we already know much of the story heading in this film still manages to entertain and spring a surprise or two along the way. In some ways though the film does disappoint. The scale of the thing seems rather small, almost entirely contained within the vampire fortress. The action is, after what we've seen in the first two films, overly familiar and repetitive. And oh so dark. Yes, vampire stories have to unfold at night but honestly this film is shot in such a dimly lit way it's often impossible to tell what's going on. And there is the sense that the movie ends just when it should be getting good. We see the rise of the Lycans, the start of the war we've heard so much about. And then it's over. There's so much more we already know about the story that we could have seen on screen. The movie could have gone further. We could have seen some more of that war. We could have seen that famous confrontation between Lucian and Kraven. And of course we could have seen Selene. This movie leaves a lot on the table. Though if the worst thing you can say about a movie is that it leaves you wanting more that's not so bad.
Have you watched the first 'Underworld?' If you have, you may well remember a bit of talking about a female vampire who fell in love with a male werewolf (sorry, 'lycan'). Well, that three minute monologue from the original has been turned into an hour and a half story. And this is it.

So, if you've seen the first film, there's nothing here that will come as a surprise. But that doesn't mean it's a bad film. For a start (despite being made by a different director) it has the same look and feel of its two predecessors and most of the appropriate original cast members return. Special mention to Bill Nighy who steals every scene as the evil vampire 'Victor.' There's action, romance and plenty of mutated wolves mixing it with medieval vampires. If that's what you're looking for (and, if you like the other Underworld movies then you probably do) then this should tick all boxes.

However, behind all the action and gore is a strong romantic story - your typical 'forbidden love' debacle between two clans, in some crazy way, almost like Romeo and Juliet. Despite the Underworld series all featuring this as a central theme, it continues the tradition of being 'Twilight' for the older generation (who definitely don't like their vampires with big hair and sparkly skin).

Warning: this Underworld movie does NOT feature Kate Beckinsale (not unless you could the five seconds at the end). I've seen a fair few people moaning because it doesn't. You have been warned (although Rhona Mitra isn't that bad as a replacement in my opinion!).
Normally the last in the trilogy of the Underworld saga takes us back to the time Victor (Bill Nighy) reign his world and saves the baby Lucian (Michael Sheen). But Lucian as a lycan falls in love with the daughter of Victor Sonja (Rhona Mitra). Of course this can't happen and Lucian is punished for that particular fact. Victor looks toward Lucian as his son and keeps him alive. But Lucian wants Sonja to help him to free the slaves of the vampires, the lycans. Big love between the two of them but Victor doesn't want it to happen. From there on you will see what you saw in part 1 and 2 in the flashbacks. This is a prequel and explains all your questions.

It's the darkest entry with an excellent score and of course Bill and Michael carry this flick. Rhona is a copy of Kate Beckinsale only to be seen at the end of Rise Of The Lycans. It should be so because we all know that Victor killed Selene's parents and saved her because she looked like Sonja. And it does.

The effects are again excellent, maybe the only complain is the use of CGI for blood here and there. For me this was the strongest entry so far in the Underworld franchise.

Gore 1/5 Nudity 1/5 Effects 4/5 Story 4/5 Comedy 0/5
I kind of thought this movie sucked. The plot was pretty bad. Lucian, whose half human and half wolf, is a slave of the head vampire, Viktor. He's also having an affair with Viktor's daughter, Sonja, which of course is forbidden. Then there was something about Lucian making a key to unlock his collar, how did he make a key to do that? And way, that is forbidden, so Viktor punishes him with beatings. Lucian and some other prisoners escape and come back to the castle to rescue the others and take Sonja with him.

The special effects were not good. They were shown without much light, making it hard to even tell what was happening. The blood was so fake. And the transformations from human to wolf were not creative. And why didn't the werewolves fight the vampires as a werewolf instead of human form. And the vampires never transformed into anything or even use their powers. It was silly.

Review Allied (2016) :

On paper, Allied should be a great movie. You have a bona fide movie star in Brad Pitt as the leading man and a bona fide movie star in Marion Cotillard as the leading lady. Robert Zemeckis is directing and the setting is one of the most interesting times in human history, WWII. Both play secret agents tasked with taking out a Nazi ambassador in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Casablanca. Somehow this movie that has so many good things going for it finds ways to disappoint despite having a solid first half. This review is going to have a lot to do with the overall intention of a movie and how it relates to the scores I give out.

To begin the first half of the movie is not too bad. It shows how the main characters meet and react to each other with the difficult task ahead of them. There was some interesting tension and cinematic moments that can be appreciated. It was paced really well even with quite a few dialogue sections with some exposition but those moments were juxtaposed with some moments with real tension. For some reason the second half of the movie did not follow suit. I'm not sure if the overall plot got in the way or the studio got in the way but the third act was full of holes and felt on rails.

Robert Zemeckis has directed some of the biggest movies of his time, Back to the Future and Forrest Gump to name a few, but I think his age has caught up to him. Allied feels slow and unexciting, even in the high points of the action there seems to be a quick build up with an unexciting pay off. It is not a great looking movie, with some locations either being green screen or just terribly lit. The editing is also not helping but there is really nothing brought by the director that gets the viewer excited.

The performances of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are a bit all over the place if only because after that first half they don't spend much time on screen together. Both performances are fine but some of the reactions don't make perfect sense in the context of the story. Really all of the acting is fairly solid and if there is one thing about this movie that is a positive the acting is it.

Overall the writing is not terribly great. There are some high moments that like I have mentioned before mostly take place in the first half of the movie. There seem to be entire scenes that are useless and characters seem to constantly be doing things that left me shaking my head. The idea is a great one, two WWII spys who fall in love, who may be taking deep secrets into their post mission affairs is one I can get behind. What ends up playing out in the movie is in some cases infuriating. disappointment.

Allied, based on the people involved was supposed to be a huge hit and a possible Oscar contender. The movie comes nothing close to that and does not even fall into the "decent" spy thriller genre. Nothing about the characters brings much to be desired and other than the actors playing them are pretty forgettable. I wanted the movie to end up surprising me close to the end with something that would change my opinion of the movie at least a little bit but that moment never came. I don't think the ending of a movie should necessarily define how good a movie is but by the end of Allied I was begging for something off the all to make it all worth it. With quite a few movies being released this holiday season I would recommend you spend your time on something better. I saw "Allied", starring Brad Pitt-World War Z, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and FYI, there is a second WWZ coming in 2017; Marion Cotillard-The Dark Knight Rises, Contagion; Jared Harris-The Man From U.N.C.L.E._2015, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Lizzy Caplan- Masters of Sex_tv, Smallville_tv.

This is a WW2 spy/thriller/romance that reminded me of an older movie called 'Casablanca'. Brad, a Canadian intelligence officer, and Marion, a French resistance fighter, play spies that team up on a mission in North Africa in 1942. On their mission, they have to pretend to be husband and wife and one thing leads to another and well, they have a real romance. After the mission, Brad pops the question and they move back to London and start a family-they have a little girl. That is when Jared, Brad's superior officer, informs Brad that they suspect Marion is really a German spy. Of course, Brad does not believe it but they give him 72 hours to uncover the truth. If she is a spy, Brad must execute her himself. Otherwise, he will be facing a court-martial and then be hung by the neck until dead. Lizzy plays Brad's sister. It's a good story, with good actors and supposedly, this is the movie that broke up Brad and Angelina. There were rumors of a real romance going on between Brad and Marion on the set. I don't know if it's true or not but the movie is good. It keeps you guessing on whether or not she is a German spy. It's rated "R" for violence, language, drug use and sexual content- including partial nudity-and has a running time of 2 hours & 4 minutes. I would probably buy it on DVD.

Les Crap ! When movies make fun of "Hollywood Movies" within the movie-THIS is that movie. Handsome star driven drivel that is over stylized in look and dialogue. While the impeccably dressed Brad Pitt takes on those lousy (and also quite well dressed) Nazis briefly in Casablanca to remind the audience who the bad guys were in WW Two, most of the film centers around the trite and jejune dilemma of "true love" between the handsome soldier and his mademoiselle. "Allies' turns "Casablanca" on its tete, by truly making two people's Hill of Beans much more profound than the side show of the world going crazy when true Evil almost destroyed civilization. The movie reminds me a little of the English Patient" without Any of the "good stuff" and all of the "love conquers all" self involvement. Plus Ralph Fiennes can act circles around Brad. That the acting is uninteresting is not surprising, but generally Robert Zemackis's directing is far better than this trivial effort. Usually in his box of Chocolat you know what you're going to get- not this le petit mort. Judah Shapiro

During World War II, intelligence officer Max Vatan(Brad Pitt) is paired up with French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour(Marion Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Their mission brings them closer, ultimately causing them to fall in love, but their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.

On paper, this movie should be Oscar bait, but it falls short due to it's problematic pacing and some dry performances. It sounds like overkill at this point, but chemistry is very important in any romance film. I always find comedies the hardest films to make, but I feel as though romance is always hard to evoke in any movie. I appreciated what Pitt and Cotillard tried to bring to the table, but it came off as dry, and the poor, and somewhat boring pacing doesn't help either.

When conflict arises and things get going, they provide some entertainment with some tension building moments. Pitt's character Max goes through the extreme to prove that his wife Marianne isn't a spy or the Germans. So to that degree, at least the characters were somewhat engaging.

Some characters in the film are also distractingly unnecessary like Lizzy Chaplan as Pitt's sister in the film Bridget Vatan. She didn't really serve anything to the plot at all.

Robert Zemeckis has his hits and misses and does a competent job for the most part. But his best work is still Back to the Future. I just had to point that out. Technically the film is well made. It's lit fabulously, and the film itself is a huge throwback to 40's cinema. The set design is immersive and it showcases some delicate costumes for both leads. The film is overall visually rich and very pleasant to look at. Allied is at it's most compelling when it's a spy thriller, not when it's a sweeping romance with a WWII backdrop. At least the romance aspect is the one thing that most WWII films don't really bring to the table, as it is very uncommon.

6/10, A WW2 romantic thriller about 2 spies who fall in love. Stars a Canadian spy played by Brad Pitt, whose character parachutes into French Morocco to complete a mission to assassinate a Nazi officer, he meets a French spy played by Marion Cotillard. There is a tangible sexual tension between our heroes, they fall in love, complete their mission, move to London, get married and have a daughter.

All seems well, but new information comes to light. Brad is called to a secret meeting in the depths of GCHQ, there he is told that his wife is not all she appears to be, and suspicion is she may be a German spy! The news results in Brad needing to investigate and take appropriate action. What I liked … The lovemaking scene in a car during a sandstorm What I didn't like … The impromptu party scene back in London, could they really have had a raucous, noisy, brightly lit party during a wartime blackout? The film is worth viewing for its styling and has a convincing old fashioned look, but I'd only recommend if nothing else showing.

Manchester by the Sea (2016) Synopsis :
Lee Chandler is a janitor working in Quincy, Massachusetts, whose routine is typically quiet and reserved. After swearing at an impatient tenant at one of the locations where he works, he is reprimanded by his boss, which culminates into getting into a fight with two men at a bar after they give him weird looks. One morning, he receives a call from George, a family friend in Beverly, reporting that Lee's brother Joe is in the hospital after falling from his boat, having suffered a heart attack. Despite heading there immediately, on arrival Lee is informed by George that Joe died an hour earlier.

Lee heads to Manchester-by-the-Sea to inform Patrick, Joe’s son, of his father’s passing. Lee temporarily moves into Joe’s home to both look after Patrick and sort out the details of Joe’s funeral. Lee appears distant to Patrick, a contrast to their relationship when Patrick was a child and when Lee was married to Randi, raising two young daughters and an infant son with her. After meeting with Joe’s lawyer about his will, Lee is shocked to learn that Joe has entrusted him guardianship of Patrick, causing him to remember the death of his daughters and son in a house fire and his attempted suicide after, subsequently leading to his and Randi’s divorce. Randi contacts Lee, asking if it would be okay if she attends the funeral. During their conversation, Randi reveals that she is pregnant. Randi arrives at the funeral with a man, presumably her new husband. Lee and Randi briefly embrace, but they do not speak.

Due to frigid weather delaying the funeral, Lee has Joe’s body preserved in a freezer at the hospital, which Patrick feels negatively about. This forces Lee to remain in Manchester with Patrick. Lee also suggests selling Joe’s boat that he left for Patrick, as the motor is about to die and regular maintenance would be too costly, but are able to afford a new motor after selling Joe’s hunting rifles. Patrick also spends time with Sandy, a girlfriend who he plays with in a band, though their attempts at sex are interrupted by her unaware mother Jill, who seems interested in Lee. Patrick attempts hooking Lee up with Jill, but she is unenthused by his unwillingness to talk, leading Patrick to criticize Lee about not wanting anything to do with him. Patrick’s resentment is further enforced by Lee’s insistence to work as a janitor outside of Manchester.

Lee soon learns that Patrick has been in touch with his mother, Elise, who has been absent from Joe's and Patrick’s lives due to her history of alcoholism and drug use, for which Lee scorns her. However, she’s revealed to be sober and engaged to Jeffrey, a devout Christian. Patrick visits Elise at her home in nearby Essex. Her behavior during the visit unsettles Patrick, and he leaves feeling dejected and despondent.

Lee announces to Patrick that he has gotten a new janitorial job in Boston, and George and his wife agree to look after Patrick until he is of age. Lee runs into Randi, accompanied by her newborn child. She becomes very emotional, expressing remorse for the manner in which she treated him after their children perished. She appears eager to reestablish a connection with him, but he abruptly walks off, leaving her sobbing. After Joe’s burial, Lee and Patrick go for a walk, Lee informing Patrick that his new residence has an extra room, encouraging him to visit any time he pleases. They go fishing on Joe’s boat, as they had done years ago.

Daddy's Home (2015) Synopsis :
Mild-mannered radio executive Brad Whitaker (Will Ferrell) struggles to be a good stepfather to his wife Sara's (Linda Cardellini) two children, Megan and Dylan, and is seemingly sterile after an accident to his testicles some years ago. The children begin to grow closer to Brad, with Dylan confiding in him that he is being picked on at school and Megan asking him to take her to a father/daughter dance at her school. One night, the kids' biological father and Sara's former husband Dusty Mayron (Mark Wahlberg) calls, and discovers Sara's marriage with Brad. He subsequently and suddenly announces he will be visiting the next day. Sara is hesitant about her former husband being in their home, but Brad convinces her that it is important for the kids that their father and stepfather establish boundaries with each other.

When Dusty arrives, Brad is immediately intimidated by his more attractive and muscular appearance, and how he easily gets along with Megan and Dylan - however, Dusty continually charms Brad into letting him stay, despite Sara protesting about the kind of man that Dusty really is. Brad soon wises up when it becomes clear that Dusty intends to drive Brad out of his kids' lives and reconcile with Sara. After multiple instances of Dusty showing Brad up - including getting the kids a dog, finishing a treehouse that Brad wanted to build with Dylan, and attempting to drive a wedge between Brad and Sara by taking them to a fertility doctor (Bobby Cannavale), hoping that Brad's inability to give Sara a baby will send her into Dusty's arms, the two men appear to reach an understanding after working together to teach Dylan how to defend himself. Additionally, Brad and Sara are overjoyed to learn that Brad's sperm count has increased significantly (implied to be a result of Dusty "invading his territory"), giving them hope of having a child together.

However, Brad is stunned when Dusty reveals that he still intends to drive Brad out of the family. Desperate, Brad spends tens of thousands of dollars on early Christmas gifts, including a pony and 18,000 dollar seats at a basketball game. At the game, Dusty once again shows Brad up by revealing himself to be friends with the coach to Dylan's favorite team, and an enraged Brad begins drinking heavily. During half-time, Brad is chosen to try to shoot a basketball to win a prize. Drunk, Brad goes on a rant about Dusty before accidentally pelting a cheerleader and a disabled child in a wheelchair in the face with basketballs. Sara kicks Brad out of the house; however, when Dusty tries to comfort her, she rejects him, and forces him to step up as a dad to help his kids with their busy schedules.

Four days later, Brad is living in his office at work, depressed. Dusty, meanwhile, is overwhelmed by the many responsibilities of being a full-time father. When Dusty decides to call it quits and leave on the day of Megan's father-daughter dance, his friend Griff (Hannibal Buress) goes to Brad and convinces him to fight for his family. Brad catches Dusty at the airport and tries to get him to come back. Dusty admits that he cannot handle the hard parts about being a father, and admires Brad for putting up with all the things that he has to go through. Brad says that all of the terrible parts about being a dad is worth it, because in the end he is doing it for his kids. This convinces Dusty to go to the dance, and he and Brad arrive together. There, they discover that the classmate who was picking on Dylan at school is a girl, and almost get into a fight with her father when Dylan physically retaliates. However, Dusty finally decides to follow Brad's lead on being a father, and instead quells the fight by starting a dance-off. Brad and Sara reconcile, and Dusty decides to stay and be a good "co-dad" to his kids.

Later, the whole family is happy; Brad and Sara have a new baby boy named after Griff, and Megan and Dylan have finally accepted Brad as their stepfather. Dusty, who now has a job as a Panda DJ and becomes wealthy through his work, has moved in across the street after building a castle there, and he and Brad are now friends. Dusty eventually remarried to a woman named Karen (Alessandra Ambrosio), who has a daughter and thus Dusty becoming a stepfather himself. Sara is immediately intimidated by Karen after meeting her; she feels that Karen's looks surpasses hers and jealous of the latter's professions as a doctor and a novelist. Dusty is now in exactly the same position that he put Brad in a year ago - at odds with his stepdaughter's incredibly intimidating father, Roger (John Cena).

When the King is slain during an attack on the castle, Robin and his men decide to free themselves and desert. They come across an ambush of the English royal guard by Godfrey (Mark Strong), an English knight who has conspired with King Philip of France to assassinate the King. As Godfrey flees Robin attempts to shoot him but only succeeds in wounding Godfrey's face with an arrow. Robin decides to take advantage of the situation by having his men impersonate the dead English knights to return to England. As they depart, Robin promises one of the dying knights, Sir Robert Loxley (Douglas Hodge), to return a sword to his father in Nottingham.

As Robin and his men become drunk on the voyage, they awake too late to flee unnoticed and Robin is forced to assume the identity of the slain Loxley and publicly inform the royal family of the King's death. He witnesses the coronation of King John (Oscar Isaac), who orders harsh new taxes to be collected, dispatching Sir Godfrey to the North to do so – unaware that Godfrey will instead use French troops to stir up unrest and create an opening for Philip to invade England.

Robin and his companions head to Nottingham, where Loxley's elderly and blind father, Sir Walter (Max von Sydow), asks him to continue impersonating his son, to prevent the family lands being taken by the Crown. However, Loxley's widow, Lady Marion (Cate Blanchett), is initially cold toward Robin, but warms to him, when he and his men merrily recover tithed grain for the townsfolk to plant.

Godfrey's actions incite the northern barons, who march to meet King John. Speaking now for Sir Walter, Robin proposes the King agree to a charter of rights to ensure the rights of every Englishman and unite his country. Having realized Godfrey's deception, and knowing he must meet the French invasion with an army, the King agrees. Meanwhile, the French marauders plunder Nottingham and Godfrey murders Sir Walter. Robin and the northern barons arrive and stop Godfrey's men.

As the French begin their invasion on the beach below the Cliffs of Dover, Robin leads the now united English army against them. In the midst of the battle, Robin duels with Godfrey, who attempted to kill Marion and flees until Robin finally succeeds in shooting him with an arrow from afar. Philip realizes that his plan to divide England has failed and calls off his invasion. When King John sees the French surrendering to Robin instead of himself, he senses a threat to his power. In London, John reneges on his promise to sign the charter, instead declaring Robin an outlaw to be hunted throughout the kingdom. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen) announces the decree as Robin and his men flee to Sherwood Forest with the orphans of Nottingham. Marion narrates their new life in the greenwood, noting that they live in equality as they right the many wrongs in the Kingdom of King John.

Green Room (2016)  Synopsis
Pat, Sam, Reece, and Tiger are members of a punk band, the Ain't Rights, traveling through the Pacific Northwest. After their original gig is cancelled, local radio host Tad, arranges a new show outside Portland through his cousin, Daniel. The band arrives at the club, a neo-Nazi skinhead bar in the remote Oregon woods. They open with a Dead Kennedys cover, "Nazi Punks Fuck Off", which angers the audience, but they win them over with their original songs.

After the show, Sam realizes she forgot her phone. Pat returns to the green room, to retrieve it. There he sees members of the neo-Nazi band Cowcatcher and the body of a girl Emily, who has been stabbed to death. Emily's friend Amber, asks Pat to call the police. He does so, reporting "a stabbing", but bar employees Gabe and Big Justin confiscate the band's phones and hold them hostage in the green room. Gabe pays a skinhead to stab another to create a cover story for the police who respond to the call. He consults with bar owner and skinhead leader Darcy, who decides to kill the band so as to eliminate witnesses to Emily's murder and avoid police investigation into other illegal activities at the bar. The band overpowers Big Justin and holds him hostage, leading to negotiations through the door with Darcy, who asks them to surrender the gun. Pat agrees, but as he opens the door and begins to hand over the gun Amber notices that Darcy is accompanied by men wearing red shoelaces, indicating someone who has shed blood for the movement. Realizing that the skinheads plan to kill them, Amber warns Pat, who tries to pull the gun back. Darcy and his men then slash at Pat's arm until he drops the gun, but he manages to close the door. Big Justin attempts to attack the band, but Reece chokes him into unconsciousness and Amber disembowels him with a box cutter.

The band searches for a way out, breaking through the floor boards to discover an underground drug lab, though they find that the only exit is locked from the outside. Arming themselves with improvised weapons they exit the green room into the empty club, but are attacked by a pit bull, which kills Tiger. Chased onto the stage, Amber and Pat drive the dog away with microphone feedback. Reece tries to flee through a window, but is stabbed to death by a skinhead. Pat, Amber, and Sam retreat to the green room. Darcy sends Daniel into the club to kill the band, Darcy claims murdered Emily. Amber tells Daniel that it was really the skinheads who murdered her. Daniel agrees to help them escape and leads the band into the club, where he is shot by the bartender. The group kills the bartender and takes his shotgun, but Darcy and his men kill Sam and wound Amber, who scrambles back to the green room with Pat.

Darcy sends in two more skinheads to kill Pat and Amber before leaving the venue with the bodies, planning to stage their deaths to appear accidental. Pat lures one skinhead into the underground drug lab while the other remains in the green room, where Amber ambushes him. As Pat struggles with the skinhead, Amber sneaks up and shoots him. Gabe enters the green room to find his companions dead and promptly surrenders to Pat and Amber. Holding him at gunpoint they trek through the woods to seek help. When Pat hears Darcy and his men staging the crime scene, he and Amber decide to go after them. Gabe volunteers to go to a nearby farm and call the police. Pat and Amber kill Darcy's henchman before executing Darcy as he starts to flee. Their ammunition and energy spent, Pat and Amber sit on the side of the road and wait for police.
